Modern Bethlehem is a Palestinian city located in the West Bank, with a population of 25,000 people. Bethlehem was the city David was from, where he was crowned. It is the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth. The name probably means House of Bread, from the Hebrew Bet Léchem.
