  • An ocean current is a continuous movement of ocean water.
  • Oceanic currents are found all over the globe and vary in size and importance
  • They are important to the world’s weather
  • Currents plan an important role in navigation
  • The Gulf Stream is a warm current that keeps places like Europe warmer than other areas at similar latitudes
  • The Labrador Current is famous for moving icebergs into shipping lanes in the North Atlantic
  • The Canary Current is a cold current. It was used by sailors since the 15th century.
