- Absolute Monarchy: monarchy of divine character; the king wasn’t accountable to anybody else.
- Bill of Rights: bill that limited the power of the monarch and made him submit some of his decisions to the Parliament
- Encyclopaedia (Encyclopédie): was a general encyclopedia published in France between 1751 and 1772. It was edited by Diderot and d'Alembert.
- Enlightened Absolutism: is a form of absolute monarchy in which rulers were influenced by the Enlightenment.
- Enlightenment: was a cultural movement of intellectuals in 18th century.
- Estate: the Estates of the realm were the broad social orders of the hierarchically conceived society.
- Physiocracy: is an economic theory developed by the Physiocrats, a group of economists who believed that the wealth of nations came mostly from agriculture.
- Third Estate: the majority of people which were not part of the other estates. It was divided into two groups, urban and rural.
- Thirteen Colonies: the Thirteen Colonies were the colonies on the Atlantic coast of North America revolted against the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1775.
- Treaty of Utrecht: treaty that ended the international conflict and recognized Philip of Bourbon as king of Spain.
