Egypt

The god Ptah

Manethon, the Abydos stella, the Turin Papyrus, etc., agree that Menas was the first Pharaoh of the first Dynasty. Who was he, and when did he reign? No one knows. It is known that he united the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt under his sceptre, and moved his capital from This, near Abydos, to Memphis, now buried under the sands of the desert a few miles south of modern Cairo.

He is also said to have introduced in Memphis the cult of Ptah and erected a temple called "Het-Ka-Ptah" or "temple of the genius Ptah". Some say the Greeks derived from it the name of Aigyptos and Copts.
